Abertay University is a public university in the city of Dundee, Scotland. Situated in the centre of Dundee, the campus features the the historic Old College buildings of Dundee Business School, the Bernard King Library, scenes of crime teaching facilities, specialist Ethical Hacking labs designed for research into computer hacking and misuse, and modern computer games labs in the UK Centre for Excellence in Computer Games Education.
The university is a small university that receives the majority of its funding for teaching rather than research. Even so, it was the highest ranked modern university in Scotland for "research intensity" in 2014 according to the Research Excellence Framework (REF2014).
Abertay combines the advantages of a close-knit campus with city centre life. The university is home to world-leading research teams that students can be a part of. Researchers at Abertay study issues as varied as innovative visualisation of complex datasets, policing and security research including witness analysis, face identity and money laundering, the study of regional and national economic analysis and accountancy as related to the oil and gas industry, food and nutrition science, sports and health science, psychology, computer arts and digital media, and many other topics.
