07 June 2021

Undecided about whether you should study online or on-campus? Both online and on-campus education have pros and cons. Discover whose pros outweigh the other’s when it comes to studying a Master in Business Administration.

When the time of choosing what to study comes, there are so many aspects to consider that it can be an overwhelming process. However, once you decide what you want to do for a living and what degree to pursue, the decision-making process doesn’t come to an end, as there are still some more aspects you need to consider. Not only do you need to choose where you will study, but also whether you want to pursue your degree online or on-campus.

Many years ago, this wasn’t even a question, as on-campus education was the only way to study a higher education degree. Even after online education appeared, it wasn’t until some years ago that it started to be considered as good as traditional learning.

One of the best ways to make a decision that involves two possibilities is to weigh the pros and cons of each depending on what works best for you. Both online and on-campus learning have advantages and disadvantages. Which one is better if you want to study an MBA? Let’s find out.

Online vs. On-Campus MBA: Pros and Cons

Online Learning

Online programmes are well-known for allowing students to study whenever they want, wherever they want, for being more affordable than on-campus programmes, for not requiring students to move if the university they choose isn’t in their own city, state or even country, for not requiring students to commute to the university, among other things that many people find beneficial.

However, for others, online learning is not as beneficial because they need face-to-face encounters with their professors and classmates, the level of flexibility that online learning has is counterproductive for them because they end up falling behind, among other things.

On-Campus Learning

When students choose to study an on-campus programme, they are constantly in contact with their instructors and classmates, they have more opportunities to ask questions directly to their professors and listen to them in person.

However, this isn’t convenient for those students who are already working, as on-campus programs have tight schedules and students have to attend classes at a set time.

Whose advantages outweigh whose disadvantages? It depends on each student, his or her goals and situation. If you are a working student, then it is advisable for you to pursue an online MBA. If you prefer face-to-face classes, then an on-campus MBA is the way to go.

No matter what you choose, you can be completely sure that you will receive the same quality of education. Both online and on-campus MBAs aim to provide graduates with the tools they need to succeed in their careers, get management positions, increase their earning potential, among other benefits, which are the reasons why business professionals decide to pursue an MBA in the first place.
